"It is our choices that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilities." ~ Albus Dumbledore

Tribes

Tribes is a community building "tool" that is used in the classroom.  It's based on the principles that we thrive and find success when we feel safe and happy in our environment.  In addition, when we make Tribes a part of our everyday language and behavior, we build trust and confidence in ourselves and one another.

The agreements in tribes are:

Attentive Listening
Eyes on the person speaking, listening, and giving them your full attention
Mutual Respect
Giving and receiving respect from one another
No Put Downs
Just as it sounds - don't be a bucket dipper
Right to Pass
This is generally during community circle.  If a student isn't ready or does not have input during this time, they are allowed to pass.
Appreciation
Acknowledging one another for the things they've done and accomplished.

We use these agreements as our class rules as they encompass everything we'd generally enforce.
